About Studioplex

Studioplex connects students, faculty, and schools producing provocative architectural design work worldwide. Developed through UCLA’s Laboratory for Cross Cultural Studies at UCLA Architecture and Urban Design the site collects and displays architectural design projects of students created within a studio context and directed by an educator. Studioplex focuses on the studio context to enrich architectural discourse while expanding its production and communication to an international audience. Studioplex is an innovative forum for contemporary architecture in our shared global community.

How to Participate

Join Studioplex today. Registration is free. Faculty and Students are invited to submit architectural design projects created within a studio context in the past 12 months. Studioplex is organized into four levels: Studios, Schools, Projects and Exhibitions. Follow the steps below to participate.

Studios

Studios are invited to submit architectural design projects created within a studio context along with a 400 word or less description, including research, diagrams, renderings, and photographs. Faculty should register with Studioplex to become a studioplex member in order to review and approve your students’ submitted work. The upload process requires each studio faculty member to review and approve a students’ uploaded project before it becomes live on the site. Students are invited to submit their projects at the studio level while requesting their studio faculty to register with Studioplex to review and approve their submission.

Faculty follow these steps:

  2. Request an instructor account using the link provided after you log in.
  3. Add your studio, title, and description
  4. Invite your students to upload their work
  5. Review and approve student submissions
  6. Student work posts on the web site under your studio

Students follow these steps:

  3. Your studio faculty will review and approve submission
  4. Your work posts on the web site

Schools

Schools are invited to present their approaches to architectural education as well as design and urban research on Studioplex by featuring the studio projects of their faculty and students. Interested schools should identify a faculty member who can act as the School Studioplex representative. Your Studioplex rep will be our contact and will help to recruit submissions on behalf of your school.

Projects

Individual students are invited to submit architectural design projects created within an academic studio context along. Upload project images, a brief project description, and other content including research, diagrams, renderings, and photographs. Your studio faculty will be contacted by Studioplex to review and approve your submissions before the work is displayed on the web site.

Students follow these steps:

  2. Upload your studio project(s)
  3. Studio faculty reviews and approves submissions
  4. Studio work posts on the web site

Exhibitions

Semi-annual exhibitions will be organized by distinguished curators or scholars to present emerging areas of contemporary design research. Curators will use Studioplex content from studios and projects as material for these exhibitions.
